One evening, an old master told his students about a battle that goes on inside of people. He told the students that the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-entitlement and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, integrity, loyalty, wisdom and faith.
One student thought about this for some time and then asked the master which one would win. The old teacher smiled and simply replied, “The one you feed”.
Be careful what you feed within yourself and others as it will encourage the growth of that “wolf”. Choose wisely and cultivate the best in us all.
